What Days and Times Can You Pick Up a Rental?
We are open Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed Sunday. Here is what that does to your start time, your return, and the Sunday trip you were about to book.
The question comes in almost every week, usually the day before somebody wants to be on the water: do you have anything tomorrow from two until six? Sometimes the answer is a simple yes. Sometimes tomorrow is a Sunday, and the honest answer is that we are not open - which is a much better thing to find out now than at 8:00 AM in a truck with a hitch on it.
What days and times can you pick up a rental?
Wave and Ridge is open Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed on Sunday. Every pickup and every return happens inside that window, at 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction. There is no after-hours key drop and no Sunday counter - if the shop is closed, the gate is closed.
Those hours are the frame around everything else in this article. Your rental block has to start inside them and finish inside them, which quietly decides how late in the day you can still book something useful.
| Day | Pickups and returns | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Monday - Thursday | 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM | 10% off with code MIDWEEK |
| Friday | 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM | The midweek discount does not apply |
| Saturday | 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM | The busiest day of the week - it fills first |
| Sunday | Closed | No pickups, no returns |
All times are America/Phoenix. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so these hours do not shift in March or November.
Can you rent a jet ski or boat on a Sunday in Arizona?
Not from us - we are closed Sunday, so there are no Sunday pickups and no Sunday returns. If your only free day is a Sunday, the move is to shift to Saturday, shift to a weekday, or look at a weekend rate that has you holding the equipment across Sunday rather than collecting it that morning.
That last option is the one most people do not know exists, and it is worth a sentence. Being closed on Sunday does not mean you cannot be on the water on Sunday. It means the shop counter is not part of your Sunday. Our wakeboat and UTV both have a weekend rate for exactly that reason.
Note the last row, because it is the one that trips up mixed bookings. There is no weekend package on the jet skis - they go out in 2-hour, 4-hour and full-day blocks only. So a request for a wakeboat and a jet ski across a weekend is really two different conversations, and both of them still need a pickup day and a return day that are not Sunday. Call us and we will lay out which days work: (480) 637-4848.
The short version: you can be on the lake on a Sunday. You just cannot collect the equipment or bring it back on a Sunday. Everything to do with the counter happens Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
What is the latest you can start a rental?
This is arithmetic rather than policy. Your rental block runs from our lot back to our lot, and it has to land before we close at 7:00 PM - so the length of block you want sets the latest hour you can start it.
| Rental block | Earliest start | Latest start to be back by 7:00 PM | Be at the shop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full day (6 hours) | 7:00 AM | 11:00 AM | 10:00 AM |
| Half day (4 hours) | 7:00 AM | 3:00 PM | 2:00 PM |
| 2 hours (jet ski only) | 7:00 AM | 5:00 PM | 4:00 PM |
So the customer who asks for a late-afternoon block returning at 7:00 PM is asking for something real - a 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM half day works, and on a summer evening it is one of the better blocks of the day. A full day is the one with no flexibility: if you want eight hours, you are starting in the morning, and there is no version of it that begins after 11:00 AM.
None of this includes the tow. Canyon Lake Marina is about 26 minutes from the lot and Saguaro Lake Marina about 30, and both of those sit inside your block, not outside it. We laid that out in detail in whether your rental time includes travel time - the short answer is that it does.
What time do you actually have to be at the shop?
One hour before your rental starts. That hour covers hitching up and loading, life jacket fitting, the walk-through on your specific machine and the safety briefing - and it is not deducted from your block. Book a 9:00 AM start, arrive at 8:00 AM, and your clock still begins at 9:00.
It works the other way too, which is the part worth internalising. Turn up at 9:00 for a 9:00 start and the hookup and briefing come out of your own hours instead of ours. Arriving early is free; arriving on time is expensive.
The earliest possible day
A 7:00 AM start is allowed, and on a July Saturday it is the smartest booking on the board.
- 6:00 AM: you arrive at 724 E Scenic St and someone meets you. The lot is quiet and the hookup is unhurried.
- 7:00 AM: your block starts. You pull out with the whole day ahead of you.
- Around 7:30 AM: you are at the ramp at Canyon or Saguaro, ahead of the queue and ahead of the heat.
- 3:00 PM: a full day started at 7:00 AM is back at the lot with four hours of daylight to spare.
“The people who have the best day are almost always the people who picked the earliest slot.
Wave and Ridge Jet Ski, Boat, and UTV RentalsWhat happens if you are late getting back?
There is a one-hour grace period after your scheduled return time. Inside that hour, nothing happens - it exists because ramps queue, traffic on the Apache Trail is what it is, and we would rather you drove back safely than fast.
Past the grace hour, the late fee in the rental agreement you signed applies: $150 an hour for a jet ski, $300 an hour for a boat. If you can see that you are going to be late, the fix is a phone call rather than a faster drive.
What the grace hour is not: it is a cushion for running behind, not an extension of our hours. Plan your return for your scheduled time, inside our 7:00 PM close - not for 8:00 PM on the assumption that the grace hour covers it.
The cheapest days to pick up
If your calendar has any give in it, Monday through Thursday is worth real money. Code MIDWEEK takes 10% off Monday to Thursday rentals - it is our only standing discount, and it does not apply on Fridays, weekends or holidays.
A full day on a jet ski is $319; midweek it is a little over $287. A wakeboat full day at $1,499 comes down by about $150. You also get the quieter version of the lake, a shorter ramp queue and a much better chance that the block you actually wanted is still open. Holiday weekends run the other direction, with a 20% surcharge on top of the base rate.
One more timing note: your cancellation deadline is in your booking agreement, measured to your start time. Because we are closed Sunday, a deadline that lands on a Sunday has to be dealt with on Saturday. The cancellation and reschedule guide works through the timing.
How to plan your pickup day
- Pick a day that is not Sunday. If Sunday is the only day the group can go, ask about a weekend rate on the wakeboat or UTV instead of a Sunday pickup.
- Decide the block length first. Eight hours means a morning start. Four hours can begin as late as 3:00 PM. Two hours on a jet ski can begin as late as 5:00 PM.
- Subtract an hour for your arrival. Whatever start time you choose, you are at 724 E Scenic St sixty minutes earlier.
- Check whether you can flex to a weekday. MIDWEEK is 10% off Monday to Thursday, and the lake is quieter as a bonus.
- Book it, or call (480) 637-4848. Texting that number reaches a real person during shop hours, Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Frequently asked questions
What days and times can you pick up a rental?
Wave and Ridge is open Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed on Sunday. Every pickup and every return happens inside that window at 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction. There is no after-hours drop-off, so both ends of your rental have to land inside our hours.
Can you rent a jet ski on a Sunday in Arizona?
Not from Wave and Ridge - we are closed on Sunday, so there are no Sunday pickups and no Sunday returns. If Sunday is your only free day, either shift to Saturday or a weekday, or ask about a weekend rate on the wakeboat or UTV so you are holding the equipment across Sunday rather than collecting it that morning. There is no weekend package on the jet skis.
Are you open on Sunday?
No. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Arizona time. The shop is closed all day Sunday, which means no pickups, no returns and no counter. If a deadline in your booking terms falls on a Sunday, deal with it on Saturday instead.
What is the latest I can start a rental?
It depends on the length of the block, because your rental has to be back before we close at 7:00 PM. A full 8-hour day has to start by 11:00 AM. A 4-hour half day can start as late as 3:00 PM. A 2-hour jet ski block can start as late as 5:00 PM. Add an hour before any of those for your arrival at the shop.
What is the earliest I can pick up?
A 7:00 AM start is allowed, which means arriving at 6:00 AM - someone meets you at the lot. On a summer weekend it is the best booking on the board: the hookup is unhurried, you are at the ramp ahead of the queue, and you are off the water before the worst of the afternoon heat.
What time do I need to arrive before my rental starts?
One hour before your start time, at 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction. That hour covers hitching up and loading, life jacket fitting, the walk-through on your machine and the safety briefing, and it does not come out of your rental block. Arrive at your start time instead and that prep comes out of your own hours.
What happens if I bring the rental back late?
There is a one-hour grace period after your scheduled return time, and nothing happens inside it. After that hour, the late fee in your signed rental agreement applies - $150 an hour for a jet ski and $300 an hour for a boat. The grace hour is a cushion for running behind, not an extension of our closing time, so plan your return for your scheduled slot.
Is it cheaper to rent on a weekday?
Yes. Code MIDWEEK takes 10% off Monday through Thursday rentals and is our only standing discount - it does not apply on Fridays, weekends or holidays. A full day on a jet ski drops from $319 to a little over $287, and a wakeboat full day comes down from $1,499 by about $150. Holiday weekends go the other way, with a 20% surcharge.
Do your hours change with daylight saving time?
No. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so our hours stay at 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday all year round. What does change is daylight - a 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM half day feels very different in June than it does in December.
Can I pick up on Saturday and return on Monday?
That is what the weekend rate is for on the wakeboat and UTV, and it is worth calling to work out the exact pickup and return days, since Sunday is not one of them. The jet skis have no weekend package - they go out in 2-hour, 4-hour and full-day blocks only. Call or text (480) 637-4848 and we will tell you what is open.
Pick a day, pick a time, we will have it hitched
Open Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, from our Apache Junction lot - about 26 minutes from Canyon Lake. Check live availability, or call and we will find the block that fits your day.
