Are there boat rentals at Canyon Lake?
Not right now. Tonto National Forest closed Canyon Lake to the public on September 8, 2026, including all boat ramps and access points, so no rental boat or jet ski can go on the water there. The lake is expected to stay closed into late 2026 or early 2027. Read the closure guide.
Where to rent a boat for Canyon Lake: Wave and Ridge, 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction, about 26 minutes from Canyon Lake and the closest jet ski rental shop to both Canyon Lake and Saguaro Lake. We rent a Centurion RI 245 surf wakeboat (seats up to 16) and Sea-Doo Spark 3UP jet skis. While Canyon Lake is closed, we send boat and jet ski days to Saguaro Lake, about a 30-minute tow from our shop. Saguaro Lake is not part of the closure.
How the boat gets to the water: every rental is pickup-only from our shop. Bring a truck or SUV with a working hitch. We hook up the trailer and walk you through the boat in person, then you tow it and launch it yourself. We do not deliver, and we do not offer a captain, so you run the boat. What you bring
A truck or SUV with a working trailer hitch. Plus cooler, swimsuits, sunscreen, and a government-issued ID. 25 or older to rent a boat; 21 or older to rent a jet ski.

At the shop
We hook the trailer to your hitch, run the boat walk-through in our lot at 724 E Scenic St, and hand over the keys. About thirty minutes.

Drive to the lake
About 30 minutes from the shop to Saguaro Lake Marina while Canyon Lake is closed. Canyon Lake is about 26 minutes from our lot.

On the water
Self-launch from the ramp.

Returning
Retrieve at the same ramp, drive back to the shop, drop the trailer in our lot. Done in time for dinner.

Reschedule, no charge. Wind or storms can make Arizona lakes unsafe quickly; call (480) 637-4848 the morning of if conditions look off and we'll move your day.

Where can I rent a boat near Canyon Lake?
Wave and Ridge, at 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction, about 26 minutes from Canyon Lake. We rent a Centurion RI 245 surf wakeboat (2024 model, seats up to 16) and Sea-Doo Spark 3UP jet skis (2 to 3 riders). The wakeboat starts at $999 for 4 hours and jet skis start at $199 for 2 hours. Taxes and fees are added at checkout. All safety gear is included; fuel is not. See current rates.
How does the rental boat get to the water?
Every rental is pickup-only from our Apache Junction shop. You tow it behind your own truck or SUV, and you launch and retrieve it yourself. We do not deliver. Arrive one hour before your start time for hookup, life jacket fitting and the walk-through. If your vehicle has a receiver but no ball mount, we rent a hitch for $20. On 4-hour and 8-hour rentals we comp $20 of a U-Haul truck rental; mileage is not covered. More in our towing guide.
Can I rent a boat with a captain?
No. Wave and Ridge does not offer captained rentals or hired drivers. You run the boat yourself after our in-person walk-through at the shop. You must be 25 or older to rent a boat and 21 or older to rent a jet ski, with a government-issued ID.

What kind of tow vehicle do I need?
A full-size truck or SUV with a working trailer hitch. Tow weight varies by boat, so if you're not sure your vehicle is rated for it, call us before you book and tell us what you drive: (480) 637-4848. We'd rather sort it on the phone than turn you away in the lot.
Do I need a boating license to rent on Canyon Lake?
No. Arizona doesn't require a boating license. You do need to be 25 or older to rent a boat, 21 or older to rent a jet ski, and have a government-issued ID. Our walk-through at the shop covers operation and the basics of navigation on the water before you leave the lot.
