The remote one, all to yourself

Apache Lake is the crown jewel of the Salt River chain — the most remote and least-crowded of Arizona's big lakes. Exceptionally clear water, dramatic canyon walls, and calm, protected coves that are ideal for beginners and anyone chasing solitude on the water. Fewer boats and fewer people mean you get the real wilderness.

Every rental is pickup-only from our Apache Junction shop. We hook you up, walk you through the trailer and brake controller, and send you off with a full tank and everything you need. Apache Lake Resort has a marina, store, and dining, but services are limited out here — so top off fuel and grab supplies before you head up.

Getting to Apache Lake

A little local know-how so a remote day runs smooth from the shop to the ramp.

📍 Where & how far

Apache Lake sits deep in the Tonto National Forest, about 45 minutes from our Apache Junction shop along the historic Apache Trail (AZ-88). You'll pick up your rental from us and tow it out — the drive is part of the adventure.

The marina & resort

Apache Lake Resort has a marina, boat launch, small store, and dining — the basics for a day out. Services are more limited than the closer lakes, which is exactly why Apache stays so quiet.

Fuel & supplies

Out here you're off the beaten path. Top off your fuel and grab water, snacks, and sunscreen before you head up — the nearest full services are back toward town, so come prepared for the day.

🅿 Tonto Pass

Apache Lake is on national forest land, so a Tonto Pass (day-use parking permit) or an America the Beautiful pass is required at the recreation sites. Grab one online or at local retailers before you go.

Apache Lake rental questions

How much does it cost to rent a boat or jet ski for Apache Lake?

Jet skis start at $199 for 2 hours ($219 for 4 hours, $349 for a full day). The Sea-Doo Switch pontoon is $449 for 4 hours or $699 for a full day. The Centurion RI 245 surf boat is $999 for 4 hours or $1,499 for a full day. Holiday weekends carry a 20% surcharge, and a refundable deposit is collected at pickup and returned the same day.

How far is Apache Lake from Apache Junction?

Apache Lake is about 45 minutes from our Apache Junction shop, deep in the Tonto National Forest along the historic Apache Trail (AZ-88). All of our rentals are pickup-only: you collect your jet ski, pontoon, or surf boat from us, and we walk you through hooking up the trailer, the brake controller, and launching before you head out.

What makes Apache Lake special?

Apache Lake is the most remote and least-crowded of the Salt River chain. The water is exceptionally clear, the canyon walls are dramatic, and fewer boats mean you get real solitude on the water. It's the lake to pick when you want the day to yourself.

Is Apache Lake good for beginners?

Yes. Apache Lake's water is calm and protected by canyon walls, and with fewer boats around there's more room to practice. Every renter gets a full pre-launch walkthrough, so you're confident on the water whether it's your first time or your hundredth.

Do I need a boating license to rent at Apache Lake?

No special boating license is required in Arizona for our rentals. To rent a jet ski you must be 21+ (and 16+ to operate one); pontoons and the surf boat require renters to be 25+. Bring a valid government-issued ID, and we'll cover everything else in your safety orientation.

What facilities are at Apache Lake?

Apache Lake Resort has a marina, boat launch, small store, and dining, but services are more limited than the closer lakes. Fuel up and grab supplies before you head out, and plan for a remote day — that remoteness is exactly what keeps it so peaceful.

When is the best time to visit Apache Lake?

Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are ideal, with perfect weather and great water. Summer is hot — get an early start. Winter is quiet and cooler. Early-morning launches (7am–noon) get you the glassiest water and the emptiest lake.

What if the weather turns on my rental day?

You're covered by our Weather Guarantee: if conditions make it unsafe to get on the water, you'll get a full refund or a free reschedule. Cancel 48 or more hours ahead for a full refund; inside 48 hours, deposits are non-refundable.

Your Apache Lake day starts here

Pick your boat, pick your date, and we'll have it ready and hooked up at pickup. The most peaceful water in Arizona is waiting.
