Pickup & Towing
Tow it yourself. We’ll show you how.
Every Wave & Ridge rental is pickup-only from our Apache Junction shop — just 20 minutes from the Canyon Lake ramp. We hook up the trailer, walk you through the launch, and send you off with everything strapped down. Never towed before? You will by the time you leave the lot.

How pickup works
Four steps from our lot to the launch ramp
We don’t deliver — and that’s on purpose. Skipping delivery keeps your rate lower and puts you in control of your own day. Here’s exactly how it goes.
1
Book online
Reserve your jet ski, pontoon, wakeboat, or UTV and pick your date. You’ll get instant confirmation with your pickup details.
2
Pick up & hook up
Arrive at 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction. We connect the trailer to your hitch, check your lights, and load you up.
3
Get the walkthrough
We show you how to tow, use the brake controller if your rig has one, and back down the ramp — before you ever leave.
4
Tow, launch, ride
Head to Canyon or Saguaro Lake, launch, and enjoy the water. Bring it back full of fuel and on time — that’s it.
What your vehicle needs
Towing requirements, by rental
The trailer comes with every rental. You bring the tow vehicle. Here’s what each one needs — and if you’re not sure your vehicle is up to it, call us at (480) 637-4848 and we’ll confirm before you book.
Jet Ski
Sea-Doo Spark 3UP
The easiest tow we offer. Almost any SUV, pickup, minivan, or crossover with a hitch can handle a single jet-ski trailer.
- Tow vehicle
- Most vehicles rated ~2,000 lbs or more
- Hitch & ball
- 2″ ball, Class I–III receiver (or bumper hitch)
- Wiring
- Flat-4 connector
- Loaded weight
- Light — well under a typical small SUV’s limit
No flat-4 plug on your vehicle? Adapters and wiring kits are cheap and sold at any auto-parts store or U-Haul.
Heavier than a jet ski but still an easy tow. Plan on a mid-size SUV or a half-ton pickup.
- Tow vehicle
- Mid-size SUV or pickup rated ~3,500 lbs or more
- Hitch & ball
- 2″ ball, Class III receiver
- Wiring
- Flat-4 or 7-pin connector
- Loaded weight
- Approx. mid-size boat trailer — we confirm at pickup
Wider than a jet-ski trailer — we’ll point out your mirrors and turning radius during the walkthrough.
Our biggest, heaviest rig. This is a real tow — you’ll want a heavy-duty truck, and we confirm your setup with you before you book it.
- Tow vehicle
- ¾-ton (or properly rated) pickup — call to confirm
- Hitch & ball
- Heavy-duty ball + trailer brakes (we verify at pickup)
- Wiring
- 7-pin connector
- Loaded weight
- Heavy — not a half-ton or SUV tow
Because of its size, we talk through your exact truck, hitch, and brake setup when you reserve. Call us first.
Two ways to go: drive it straight off our lot, or trailer it to a farther trail.
- Bulldog Canyon
- Street-legal — drive off our lot, no trailer needed
- Farther trails
- Add a utility trailer for $80/day
- Hitch & ball
- 2″ hitch, 3,500-lb tow rating
- Wiring
- Flat-4 or 7-pin connector
See our utility trailer rentals for hauling your machine to Glamis, the Cinders, or beyond.

Towing FAQ
Your towing questions, answered
Still unsure about something? Read our full rental FAQ or just call or text us.
I’ve never towed a trailer before. Can you help?
Absolutely — it’s what we do every day. We hook the trailer to your vehicle, check that your lights and brakes work, and walk you through towing and backing down the boat ramp before you leave the lot. Most first-timers are surprised how easy it is, especially with a light jet-ski trailer. Take the turns wide and slow and you’ll be fine.
What size hitch and ball do I need?
A 2-inch ball covers our jet-ski, pontoon, and UTV utility trailers, paired with a standard receiver hitch (Class I–III). The wakeboat is heavier and uses a heavy-duty setup — call us and we’ll confirm exactly what your truck needs. If your vehicle has a hitch receiver but no ball mount, those are inexpensive at any auto-parts store.
What kind of vehicle do I need?
It depends on the rental. A jet ski tows behind almost any SUV, truck, or minivan with a hitch. A pontoon wants a mid-size SUV or half-ton pickup. The wakeboat is our heaviest rig and needs a heavy-duty (¾-ton or properly rated) truck — we confirm your setup before you book that one. Not sure where your vehicle lands? Call
(480) 637-4848.
I don’t have a tow vehicle. What are my options?
There’s a U-Haul less than 5 minutes from our shop that rents pickup trucks for about $20/day. Book a half-day or full-day rental and we’ll take $20 off your booking to cover the truck — you just pay the mileage. (The credit doesn’t apply to 2-hour rentals.) Reserve the U-Haul ahead of your pickup time and you’re set.
Do the trailers have brakes? Do I need a brake controller?
Lighter trailers like the jet-ski trailer don’t require a brake controller. Heavier rigs may have trailer brakes — if yours does, we show you how the controller works during your walkthrough. If you’re towing the wakeboat, we go over the brake setup with you when you reserve so there are no surprises.
Do you provide straps and tie-downs?
Yes. Every rental leaves our lot fully strapped down with the tie-downs and safety chains it needs — that’s included, not an add-on. We secure the load with you so you can see how it’s done for the trip home.
How do I launch and load at the ramp?
We coach you through it before you leave: backing the trailer down the ramp, floating the watercraft off, and loading back up at the end of the day. Canyon and Saguaro Lake both have well-maintained public ramps. Go slow, and don’t be shy about asking a neighbor to spot you — lake folks are friendly.
Can someone else pick up and tow the rental for me?
The person who reserved the rental needs to be present at pickup to sign the rental agreement and put down the deposit — that’s the cardholder, 21+ for jet skis and 25+ for boats and UTVs. They don’t have to be the one driving the tow vehicle, but they do need to be there to sign.
Which lakes can I tow to?
Most renters head to
Canyon Lake (about 20 minutes from our shop) or
Saguaro Lake. You’re welcome to tow to other Arizona lakes too — just plan your tow vehicle and fuel accordingly, and bring it back full and on time.
Ready to hook up and head out?
Reserve your jet ski, pontoon, wakeboat, or UTV today. We’ll have the trailer ready and walk you through every step.
