Canyon Lake Marina is about 26 minutes (14.7 miles) from the lot; Saguaro Lake Marina is about 30 minutes (20.6 miles).
Do I have to tow it myself, or can you handle that?
You tow it. Wave & Ridge does not deliver, drop off, or meet you at the ramp — pickup-and-tow is the whole model, and it is the reason a jet ski here starts at $199 instead of marina pricing. Will someone be there to help us get the ski in the water?
Not at the ramp — we have no staff at the lake. All the help happens at the shop before you pull out: we hook the trailer to your vehicle, check your lights, strap the ski down, fit life jackets, and coach you through both towing and backing down a ramp. Launching one ski is a short, one-or-two-person job, and the whole sequence is walked through step by step below.

What “Self-Tow” Actually Means
Around Phoenix there are two ways to rent a jet ski. On-water rentals hand you a ski at a marina dock — convenient, but every hour you ride has to cover slip fees, on-site staff, and waterfront overhead. Self-tow rentals hand you the ski on a trailer at the shop. You supply the tow vehicle and the drive; the shop supplies everything else.

How Do You Launch a Jet Ski by Yourself?
You back the trailer down the ramp until the ski floats off, walk it to the dock or hold it on a line, then park the truck and trailer. On a single-ski trailer the whole thing takes a couple of minutes, and it is the part every first-timer overthinks. Here is the order that keeps it easy — the same sequence we walk you through at the shop.

Do the prep in the parking lot, not on the ramp
Pull into the lot first. Unhook the rear tie-downs, load your gear, and get life jackets on. Leave the bow strap connected until the ski is actually in the water. Ramps back up fast on a Saturday morning, and everything you do up top is time you are not blocking the lane.

Back down slow and straight
Hand at the bottom of the wheel, small corrections, and go slowly. A single-ski trailer is short and light, so it reacts quickly — which cuts both ways. You only need to go far enough for the ski to float free, not to submerge the trailer.

Float it off and hold it
Unclip the bow strap and winch line, ease the ski off the bunks, and walk it over to the courtesy dock or hold it on a line at the shoreline while your driver clears the ramp. If you are by yourself, tie it off first, then move the vehicle.

Park the rig, then ride
Park in the trailer parking area. Both of our lakes sit inside the Tonto National Forest, so you need a pass with a watercraft sticker to park and launch — the details are in our Tonto Pass guide. Buy it before you leave town; it is the single most common thing renters forget.

Retrieval is the same steps backwards
Back the trailer in, drive or walk the ski onto the bunks, hook the winch line and bow strap, pull up into the lot, then strap it down properly before you hit the road. Top the tank off on the way back — the ski goes out full and comes back full.

We rent a hitch for $20. It requires a vehicle that already has a receiver — it's a missing-hardware fix, not a substitute for a tow-capable vehicle. No flat-4 plug? Adapters are cheap at any auto-parts store.
No tow vehicle at all?
🚗 The U-Haul move: There's a U-Haul less than 5 minutes from our shop that rents pickup trucks for about $20 a day. Book a 4-hour or 8-hour rental and we take $20 off your booking to cover the truck — you just cover the mileage. (2-hour rentals don't include the credit.)

Both of our lakes are Salt River reservoirs in the Tonto National Forest, and both have marina launch ramps. Canyon Lake is the closer tow — about 26 minutes and 14.7 miles from the lot — with dramatic canyon-wall scenery. Saguaro Lake is about 30 minutes and 20.6 miles, with a full-service marina and saguaro-studded shoreline. You can't go wrong; pick by scenery or by which ramp is less busy on your date.
