Can One Person Book a Boat for the Whole Group?
Yes. Here is exactly who books, who signs, who carries the deposit — and what a day on the water costs once ten of you split it.
Somebody in every group ends up being the organizer. They are the one texting the group chat, chasing the headcount, and quietly wondering whether all eight friends have to create accounts and check out separately before this trip is real. They do not. One person books the boat, and everyone else just shows up.
Can one person book a boat for the whole group?
Yes. You reserve the boat itself, not individual seats, so a single person books the whole vessel, signs the rental agreement, and puts the refundable deposit on their card. There is no per-person checkout and nobody else needs to touch the booking page.
The only thing the rest of your group has to do is show up at our Apache Junction shop and sign a liability waiver before you pull out of the lot. We can send that paperwork ahead of the trip so it is done before anyone arrives.
The short version: one booking, one signer, one deposit, one card — and up to 16 people riding on that single reservation.
You are renting a vessel, not a ticket
This trips people up because so much of the water-rental world is sold by the seat. Booking a boat works the other way around: the rate covers the boat for a block of time, and the passenger limit is a capacity ceiling rather than a price multiplier. Ten people on the wakeboat costs exactly what four people costs.
That is also why the organizer matters. One name goes on the agreement, one card carries the deposit, and one person gets the walkthrough at pickup. Everyone else is a passenger on that booking.
How many people actually fit
These are hard limits, not suggestions, so start your planning here rather than with the price. If your headcount is above a vessel's number, you need a second vessel — and that is a normal, easy thing to book.
| Rental | Holds | Minimum age to rent |
|---|---|---|
| Centurion Ri245 wakeboat | Up to 16 passengers | 25+ |
| Sea-Doo Spark 3UP jet ski | 2–3 riders per ski | 21+ to rent, 16+ to operate |
Group of 14? That is the wakeboat. Call us and we will map vessels to your headcount.
Who signs what
Two different signatures are involved, and mixing them up is the most common planning mistake.
The renter signs the rental agreement
That is the one person who books. They must be 25 or older for the wakeboat, or 21 or older for a jet ski. They are responsible for the equipment and the deposit, and they are the person we walk through towing, launching and operation at pickup.
Every participant signs a liability waiver
Not just the organizer — everyone who is coming. Minors need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. We can send waivers ahead of your date so your group arrives with the paperwork already done, which is the single biggest time-saver on a big-group morning.
Worth knowing: Wave & Ridge does not sell insurance. The waiver covers your use of our equipment; anything involving another person, another boat or a dock is worth a quick call to your own insurance agent before a big water day.
What a boat day costs once you split it
Because the rate is per boat, your cost per person falls every time somebody else says yes. The wakeboat spreads the furthest because it seats the most: a full day is $1,499, which is about $94 a head with 16 aboard, or roughly $62 each for a 4-hour trip at $999. A jet ski at $199 for 2 hours splits three ways to about $66.
Rental rate only. Gas is a separate group expense — see below.
Book Monday through Thursday and take 10% off with code MIDWEEK. That drops a full wakeboat day from $1,499 to $1,349.10 — about $84 a head with 16 aboard. Holiday weekends run a 20% surcharge, so a big group saves real money by going midweek.
“Ten people on the wakeboat costs exactly what four people costs. The only thing that changes is the math in your group chat.
Wave and Ridge Jet Ski, Boat, and UTV RentalsOne card carries the deposit
A refundable security deposit is taken at pickup and returned the same day once the equipment comes back on time and in the same condition. It sits on the renter's card, not split across the group.
| Rental | Refundable deposit |
|---|---|
| Wakeboat | $1,500 |
| Jet ski | $500 per ski |
Confirmed at booking. Refundable, taken at pickup, back the same day.
Gas is the one cost that is not in the rate
Every rental leaves the lot with a full tank and comes back full. If it does not, you pay the cost of the gas plus a $20 refueling fee. Treat it as a shared group expense alongside food and ice, and settle it the same way you settle the rest.
What you are not paying extra for
All your gear is included at no charge — tubes, tow ropes, life jackets, the Bluetooth stereo. There are no add-on fees for the toys, so nobody needs to chip in for equipment once you are on the water.
Booking for a group, step by step
The organizer's checklist
Five things, in order, and the whole thing takes about ten minutes.
- Lock the headcount first. Capacity decides the vessel, and the vessel decides the price.
- One person books the boat and must meet the age minimum — 25+ for boats, 21+ for a jet ski.
- Ask us to send the waivers ahead so your group is not doing paperwork in the parking lot.
- Sort the tow vehicle. Whoever tows picks up at our Apache Junction shop; we hook it up and walk them through it.
- Arrive one hour before your start time for hookup, life jacket fitting and the safety briefing.
Everything from that point is yours: you tow to Canyon Lake (about 26 minutes and 14.7 miles from our lot) or Saguaro Lake (about 30 minutes, 20.6 miles), launch, and run your own day. There is no captain and no guide — you are the skipper.
Plans can change. Cancellation terms are shown at checkout before you pay. If a storm is in the forecast, contact us before you launch and we will reschedule at no charge under our Weather Protection policy — the on-water call, once you are out there, is yours.
Bigger, or a special occasion?
If your group is running multiple vessels or you want the day built around an event rather than just a rental, we have pages set up for exactly that — including sending waivers and documents ahead for review.
Frequently asked questions
Can one person book a boat for the whole group?
Yes. You reserve the boat itself, not individual seats, so one person books the whole vessel, signs the rental agreement and puts the refundable deposit on their card. Everyone else in your group just needs to show up at our Apache Junction shop and sign a liability waiver before you leave the lot.
Does every person in the group have to book on the website?
No. There is no per-person checkout. One booking covers the boat and everyone aboard it, up to that vessel's passenger limit. If your group needs more than one vessel, book each one and tell us they belong together so we stage them at the same pickup time.
Who has to sign a waiver?
Every participant signs a standard liability waiver, not just the person who booked. We can send the paperwork ahead of your trip so nobody is filling out forms in the parking lot. Minors need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
How old does the person booking have to be?
The renter who signs the agreement must be 25 or older for the wakeboat, and 21 or older for a jet ski. Jet ski operators must be at least 16. Those are Wave & Ridge requirements and they apply to whoever signs, not to your passengers.
How many people fit on one boat?
The Centurion Ri245 wakeboat holds up to 16 passengers and a Sea-Doo Spark 3UP jet ski fits 2 to 3 riders. Those are hard limits, so a group of 14 needs the wakeboat.
Can we split the cost between everyone?
You can split it however you like among yourselves, but Wave & Ridge charges one booking to one card. A full day on the wakeboat is $1,499, which works out to about $94 a head with 16 aboard. The refundable deposit also sits on that one card until the boat comes back.
Whose card holds the deposit?
The renter's. A refundable security deposit is taken at pickup and returned the same day once the equipment comes back on time and in the same condition. It is $500 per jet ski and $1,500 for the wakeboat.
Who pays for gas on a group rental?
You do. Every rental leaves our lot with a full tank and comes back full, or you pay the cost of the gas plus a $20 refueling fee. Monday-Thursday jet ski and UTV rentals get Weekday Gas on Us: bring it back at any fuel level and we skip the fuel charge. Budget for it as a group expense on top of the rental rate, because it is not part of the quoted price.
Does the whole group have to come to the shop?
Only the people who need to sign. The rental is picked up at 724 E Scenic St in Apache Junction, where whoever is towing collects the boat and trailer and gets the walkthrough. Your group can regroup at the ramp — Canyon Lake Marina is about 26 minutes from the lot and Saguaro Lake Marina about 30.
