WaveRunner Rental Near Phoenix: What You Actually Rent and Where to Ride

If you are searching for a WaveRunner rental near Phoenix, what you want is a personal watercraft you can ride on a desert lake for a few hours. At Wave & Ridge in Apache Junction, that is a Sea-Doo Spark 3UP, towed to Saguaro Lake. WaveRunner, Jet Ski, and Sea-Doo are brand names for the same kind of machine, so the name you search matters a lot less than the plan. Here is what the words mean and how a rental day from the East Valley works.

WaveRunner, Jet Ski, or Sea-Doo?

Most people use these names the way they use "Kleenex" for tissues:

All three are personal watercraft, or PWC: small boats you sit on and steer with handlebars, powered by a water jet pump instead of an exposed propeller. Arizona law treats them the same way, whatever brand is on the hull.

What Wave & Ridge rents

Our water fleet for PWC riders is the Sea-Doo Spark 3UP. It is a light, nimble ski with 90 HP that seats up to three riders, so it is easy for first-timers and still fun for experienced riders. If you want a ski built for tricks, ask about the Spark TRIXX 3UP, which rents on the same rules.

Every rental comes with:

Ages and rental lengths

Your rental clock runs from our lot back to our lot, so the tow is part of your time. For a relaxed lake day from Phoenix, the 4-hour or full-day block gives you real time on the water.

Where to ride: Saguaro Lake

Canyon Lake is closed to the public for the SRP drawdown, so Saguaro Lake is where Wave & Ridge sends every water rental right now. Saguaro sits in the Tonto National Forest, about 30 minutes from our shop up the Bush Highway. It has about 1,200 acres of water, red canyon walls, and wild horses that often graze along the shoreline.

Saguaro Lake Marina is full-service, with paved launch ramps, a fuel dock, a restaurant, a store, restrooms, and parking. Our Saguaro Lake boat rentals page covers the lake in more detail. You will need a Tonto Pass or an America the Beautiful pass for the recreation sites. Our Tonto Pass guide explains how to get one.

Towing a Spark from Phoenix

A single Spark on its trailer is the easiest tow we offer. Most SUVs, pickups, minivans, and crossovers with a hitch can handle it. You will need:

We hook up the trailer, check your lights, and walk you through towing and backing down the ramp before you leave. No truck? Ask about the U-Haul a few minutes from the shop. The full checklist is on towing info.
